T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More

Admissions

School Admission Policy

The school caters for children in the 3 to 11 age group and hosts a Special Needs Resource Base.

The first step for parents whose child is about to join us is to complete an admission form and return it to the Local Authority [LA] Admissions Office. Admissions will be authorised by the LA and are dependent on meeting criteria set out by the LA.

The LA has an available admissions policy which applies to all maintained schools. [Policy available on request to the LA]

We also host a Primary-Age Special Needs Resource Base for children with Communication Difficulties. Access to the Resource Base is a matter for LA consideration through the Additional Learning Needs Panel.

If your child is about to start in the nursery, you will be invited to a ‘Nursery Induction Meeting’. Here, you will be able to meet the Headteacher and the staff who will be working with your child in the nursery setting. The Nursery teacher will be able to inform you about the important aspects of school life. Parents will have an opportunity to ask any questions that might concern them during this meeting.

Pupils transfer to comprehensive school when they reach the end of year 6. We participate in a variety of transition events with both Brynmawr Foundation School and Abertillery Learning Community. Parents have the opportunity to visit both schools to chat and to look around before their children begin schooling.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
